Skincare starts before the serum
Before the moisturizer, before anything you apply, there is your water.
Cities chlorinate tap water on purpose: it keeps the mains safe between the treatment plant and your tap. Nobody put it there for your skin. In a hot shower, chlorine and chloramine oxidize the lipids that hold your skin barrier together and lift the cuticle on your hair. That is the tight feeling, the frizz, and the color that fades weeks before your next salon visit.

What is inside
Every cartridge holds 43,000 mg of ascorbic acid, which is 55% of the cartridge by weight. Here is what each ingredient is doing, and nothing that is not in there.
Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)
The active. It reduces free chlorine and chloramine to harmless chloride on contact. This is a chemical reaction, not adsorption, so it finishes instantly and hot water does not slow it down.
Glycerin
A humectant, at 26% of the formula. It goes into the water and is why the shower stops feeling squeaky.
Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract
A botanical extract, for a clean, refreshed feeling.
Opuntia Ficus-Indica (Prickly Pear Cactus) Seed Oil
A botanical oil rich in fatty acids, for a softer, conditioned feel.
Dextrin, Trehalose, Xanthan Gum
What holds the gel together and releases it at a steady rate through the shower rather than all at once.
Nonfat Dry Milk
Part of the emulsion. If you have a milk allergy, you should know it is in there. Pluvena is a rinse-off product, so contact time is short.
Fragrance (Parfum)
Grapefruit, Mango, Lavender or Lime. It rides out with the steam and fades a few minutes after your shower.
Red 40 (CI 16035), Blue 1 (CI 42090), Yellow 5 (CI 19140)
The color in the gel, in a different mix for each scent. This is not decoration: the gel fades as the vitamin C is spent, which is how you know when the cartridge is done.

What we leave out
No parabens. No sulfates. No silicones. No mineral oil. Heavy metals not detected. Dermatologist skin-irritation tested and rated non-irritant. Made in South Korea.
The gel is the interface
Every cartridge contains a colored gel that visibly depletes as you shower. No app, no calendar, no guessing whether the thing on your shower arm is still doing anything. Look at it. When it runs nearly clear, twist on the next one.
What Pluvena does not do
It does not soften hard water, and it does not remove heavy metals, fluoride or lead. Nothing that screws onto a shower arm does those well. We would rather you knew what you were buying.
