The vitamin C shower filter
There’s chlorine in every shower you take.
Your city puts it there to keep the mains safe on the way to your tap. Nobody put it there for your skin, and a hot shower is where it does the most damage: eight minutes a day stripping the oils that keep your skin calm and your hair smooth.
Pluvena neutralizes it on contact with 43 000 mg of vitamin C, then conditions the water on the way out.

Chlorine and chloramine
Both are neutralized, not adsorbed. Chloramine is what most US cities use now.
43,000 mg, published
The absolute dose per cartridge. Almost nobody in this category prints one.
Fits your shower
Any standard half-inch arm, with the shower head you already own.
30 days to change your mind
Full refund on your first purchase. You keep the cartridge.
The part nobody checks
Eight minutes a day, undoing the rest of your routine.
Chlorine is in your water on purpose: it keeps the mains safe between the treatment plant and your tap. Nobody designed it for skin. Heat and steam open the door, and the same molecule that kills bacteria in the pipe goes to work on your lipid barrier.
It strips the lipid barrier
Chlorine oxidizes the fats that hold your skin barrier together. That is the tight, squeaky feeling, and it is why the moisturizer goes on before you have dried off.
It roughens the hair cuticle
The cuticle lifts, light scatters instead of reflecting, and hair reads as frizz. A mask smooths it for a day. Tomorrow’s shower undoes it.
It pulls color out early
Chlorine is one of the main reasons blonde and red fade weeks before the next salon visit. The fade is not the dye. It is the water.
The reaction
Vitamin C doesn’t trap chlorine. It ends it.
Carbon and KDF filters work by adsorption: chlorine has to linger on the media long enough to stick. Hot water and an eight-minute shower give them neither the contact time nor the temperature they want. Ascorbic acid works chemically instead, so the reaction finishes the moment the water passes through.
HOCl and OCl⁻, plus chloramine (NH₂Cl) in most US cities
43,000 mg per cartridge, 55% of it by weight
The same reduction water utilities use to dechlorinate mains before discharge
No contact time to wait for. The reaction is done before the water reaches the head.
Hot water speeds the reaction up. It slows adsorption down.
The compound most carbon cartridges pass straight through.

The refill problem, solved
A filter that tells you when it is finished.
Every other shower filter asks you to guess, or to trust a calendar reminder you set three months ago. The vitamin C in a Pluvena cartridge is held in a coloured gel, and the gel fades as the vitamin C is spent.
Full colour means it is working. Nearly clear means it is time for the next one. No app, no subscription you have to trust, no filter quietly doing nothing for six weeks.
WORKS WITH YOUR SHOWER
Whatever your shower looks like, it fits.
Handheld on a hose, fixed head, rain head: they nearly all screw onto the same standard half-inch thread, and that is where Pluvena goes. Nothing is plumbed, nothing is drilled, and it comes off in one twist when you move.
Unscrew what is there
Take off your shower head, or unscrew the hose. Hand-tight is how it went on, so hand-tight is how it comes off.
Twist Pluvena on
Onto the standard half-inch thread, the one nearly every shower in the US uses.
Put your head back on
Screw the head or the hose back onto Pluvena. Run the water. The first shower is the one people notice.
Adding the Pluvering head? It uses less water, holds a steady pressure from the first shower to the last, and pushes more of the scent into the steam. Optional, and free with the four-pack.
One cartridge, four moods.
Same chemistry, pick the one you want to wake up in.
What to expect
Your first 120 showers.
Nothing about this is dramatic on day one, and we would rather tell you that than promise a transformation. This is the pattern people describe.
You step out and forget to reach for lotion. That is usually the moment people are convinced.
The tightness stops showing up. Hair air-dries softer, with less frizz to fight.
Serums seem to be working again, because the barrier they land on is calm. Someone asks what you changed.
Around four months in for one person, sooner for a household. Twist the next scent on. It stays at full strength until the last drop.
Individual results vary. Pluvena changes your water, not your biology.

“I stopped reaching for lotion”
First shower, I stepped out and just… forgot. No tightness, nothing pulling. I have used the same moisturizer for four years and it finally feels optional.

“My colorist asked what I changed”
My blonde used to go brassy by week four. I am at week eight and she wanted to know what I had switched to. It was the water the whole time.

“My bathroom smells like a spa now”
I did not expect the scent to be the part I love. The mango comes up with the steam and the whole room holds it. My shower went from a chore to the ten minutes I look forward to.

Honest comparison
Pluvena and the canister filter you almost bought.
Most shower filters are a canister of carbon or KDF pellets. They are not bad products. They are just being asked to do something adsorption is slow at, in water that is too hot for it.
| Pluvena | Carbon / KDF canister | |
|---|---|---|
| Active ingredient on the label | 43,000 mg of vitamin C | Not disclosed |
| How it removes chlorine | Chemical reduction, instantly | Adsorption, needs contact time |
| In a hot shower | Unaffected | Efficiency drops as water heats |
| Chloramine | Neutralized | Mostly passes through |
| Conditioning ingredients | Glycerin, tea tree, cactus seed oil | None |
| Knowing when it is spent | The gel fades | A calendar reminder |
| Install | 30 seconds, keep your head | Tools, sometimes a new head |
Before your first cartridge
The questions people actually ask.
Still stuck? hello@pluvena.com answers in a day.
Will it fit my shower?
If your shower head or hose screws onto a standard half-inch thread, yes, and that covers nearly every shower in the US. Handheld, fixed and rain heads all work. Pluvena goes between the arm and the head you already own.
Do I need the Pluvering shower head?
No. The cartridge is self-contained. The Pluvering is optional, and it is included free with the four-pack.
How long does one cartridge last?
About 1,900 gallons, or roughly 120 showers at about 16 gallons each. For one person showering daily that is about four months. For a household of four, about one month. Longer showers, a high-flow head or heavily chlorinated water shorten it, and the gel shows you where you are.
I have hard water. Will this fix it?
No, and we would rather say so. Pluvena neutralizes chlorine and chloramine. Limescale and chalky residue are calcium and magnesium, and those need a softener.
Is it safe for sensitive skin and coloured hair?
The formula is dermatologist skin-irritation tested and free of parabens, sulfates, silicones and mineral oil. It rinses off, so contact time is short. For coloured hair, less chlorine means slower fading.
What if I do not notice a difference?
You have 30 days. Email hello@pluvena.com and we refund your first purchase in full. You keep the cartridge.
Fix the water first. The rest of the routine follows.
Pick a scent, twist it on tonight, and give it thirty days. If your skin does not feel different, we refund the first one and you keep it.
